The Department of Education (DepEd) said on Thursday that 38 ‘high-risk’ learners in San Jose National High School (SJNHS) in Tacloban City will require long-term psychological interventions after the fatal school shooting in June, as reported by BusinessWorld.

During the Senate Committee on Basic Education hearing on Thursday, DepEd Undersecretary for Governance and Operations Malcolm S. Garma stated the assessment, highlighting the need for sustained mental health support for the affected students.

The incident has prompted renewed discussions on school safety and mental health resources in Philippine educational institutions, with DepEd committing to provide necessary interventions for the high-risk learners.
