The Department of Agriculture (DA) announced Thursday that it plans to complete 380 mechanical drying systems by the start of the 2027 wet season, as reported by BusinessWorld.

According to the DA, 230 palay drying units are expected to be operational by the end of 2026, with an additional 150 units to follow, completing the nationwide network. The initiative aims to expand the country’s post-harvest drying capacity for unmilled rice.

The project is part of broader efforts to reduce post-harvest losses and improve rice production efficiency in the Philippines. Once fully operational, the network is expected to benefit farmers by providing more accessible drying facilities, especially during the wet season.
