The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced that the logistics arms of the Ayala and Gokongwei groups, AC Logistics and Robinsons Logistix, have committed to help ease supply chain bottlenecks faced by micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The move comes as nine additional logistics providers joined the DTI's Supply Chain and Logistics Center (SCLC) Network.
Barcodes Philippines noted that MSMEs can further reduce logistics bottlenecks by ensuring their products carry standard retail barcodes (EAN/UPC) and GTINs, which streamline inventory tracking and acceptance across logistics providers and retailers.
The SCLC Network, which aims to streamline logistics for MSMEs, now includes major players that have pledged to lower logistics costs. AC Logistics and Robinsons Logistix, both subsidiaries of conglomerates with extensive distribution networks, are expected to provide more affordable and efficient services for small businesses.
The DTI's initiative addresses a key pain point for MSMEs, which often struggle with high logistics expenses that eat into their margins. By bringing together private-sector logistics providers, the SCLC Network seeks to create a more competitive environment and improve supply chain resilience across the Philippines.
