The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has further eased the airline passenger fuel surcharge for the fourth straight period, setting the rate at Level 12 for June 16-30, down from Level 13 in the first half of the month. The advisory, signed by Executive Director Carmelo L. Arcilla, was released on June 11, as reported by BusinessWorld.
Level 12 allows airlines to charge a fuel surcharge of up to P117 for domestic flights and between P385.67 and P4,560.72 for international flights, depending on the distance. The reduction reflects declining jet fuel prices, providing some relief to passengers amid ongoing travel demand.
The CAB adjusts fuel surcharge levels every 15 days based on average jet fuel prices from the previous month. Airlines may still opt not to impose the surcharge, but those that do must adhere to the approved level. The latest adjustment is expected to lower airfare costs for travelers in the latter half of June.
