THE Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport Authority (APECO) said it is in talks with power companies to set up an electricity distribution system in its Casiguran economic zone (ecozone). The announcement was reported by BusinessWorld.

APECO President Gil S. Taway Jr. said the agency is exploring a distribution utility agreement, similar to arrangements seen in New Clark City and Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)-registered ecozones. The deal would allow a private power firm to operate the distribution network within the 300-hectare Casiguran ecozone.

The ecozone, located in Aurora province, is part of the government's push to develop industry outside Metro Manila. APECO expects the utility agreement to attract investors by ensuring reliable power supply. No specific power company was named, and negotiations are ongoing.
