The Department of Transportation (DOTr) expects at least 10 offers from local and foreign investors for the P229-billion concession to operate and maintain the North-South Commuter Railway (NSCR), the country's largest infrastructure project, according to a report by Philstar Biz.
The NSCR is a 147-kilometer railway line connecting Clark, Pampanga to Calamba, Laguna, passing through Metro Manila. The concession covers operations and maintenance for a period to be determined, and the bidding process is expected to attract significant interest from major infrastructure players both locally and internationally.
DOTr officials have not yet released the full list of prospective bidders, but the high number of expected participants underscores the project's strategic importance in improving connectivity and easing congestion in the Greater Manila Area. The concession is part of the government's broader infrastructure program under the Build, Build, Build initiative.
