Canon has closed its last manufacturing facility in the Philippines, located in Batangas, affecting about 1,400 employees, as reported by Bilyonaryo Business News.
The closure marks the end of Canon's production operations in the country, which had been a key hub for the Japanese electronics company. The Batangas plant was the company's only remaining factory in the Philippines after previous downsizing.
Affected employees are expected to receive separation packages, and Canon has stated it will continue to provide after-sales support and services through other channels. The company has not announced any plans to reopen manufacturing in the Philippines.
