Budget carrier Cebu Air, Inc. (CEB), the operator of Cebu Pacific, said a Malaysian court has barred AirAsia MOVE, the online travel agency (OTA) of the AirAsia group, from using the airline’s trademarks in distributing and selling Cebu Pacific flight tickets without authorization. The statement was reported by BusinessWorld on Tuesday.
The High Court of Malaya issued the injunction, preventing AirAsia MOVE from marketing or selling CEB’s flight products and services without a valid agreement. CEB emphasized that only authorized agents and platforms may offer its tickets, and it will take legal action against unauthorized sellers.
This development follows CEB’s ongoing efforts to protect its brand and distribution channels. The airline advised customers to book directly through its official website or accredited partners to avoid issues with ticket validity and customer service.
