The Indian Commerce Ministry has strengthened trade infrastructure with the inauguration of a Customs Facilitation Centre at the Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ) in Mumbai, as reported by Entrepreneur India. The facility is designed to streamline customs procedures and enhance the ease of doing business for exporters operating in the zone.
The centre aims to reduce transaction costs and clearance times by providing a single-window platform for customs-related services. It is expected to particularly benefit small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by simplifying compliance and minimizing delays in export processing.
This initiative aligns with the government's broader efforts to modernize trade infrastructure, improve logistics efficiency, and boost India's export competitiveness in global markets. SEEPZ, a key special economic zone, already hosts numerous electronics and IT firms that stand to gain from the upgraded facilities.
