The Commerce Ministry has announced the establishment of a Customs Facilitation Centre at the Santacruz Electronics Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ) in Mumbai, according to Entrepreneur India. The initiative aims to strengthen trade infrastructure by simplifying customs procedures for exporters operating within the special economic zone.
The centre is expected to reduce processing times and lower transaction costs for businesses, enhancing the ease of doing business for electronics exporters. By centralizing customs services, it seeks to address bottlenecks and improve supply chain efficiency at SEEPZ, which houses numerous export-oriented units.
This move aligns with the government's broader efforts to modernize trade infrastructure and boost India's export competitiveness. The facilitation centre is part of ongoing reforms to streamline logistics and customs compliance, particularly in key manufacturing and export hubs like SEEPZ.
