The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) estimates that streamlining the government’s technology portfolio by removing duplicative systems could save up to P40 billion annually, according to a report by BusinessWorld.
The DICT plans to conduct an audit of existing government IT systems to identify redundancies and propose consolidation measures. The initiative aims to reduce maintenance costs and improve interoperability across agencies.
If implemented, the savings could be redirected to other digital transformation projects. The DICT has not yet provided a timeline for the streamlining process.
