The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (NDRRMF) had a P34.23-billion balance at the end of May, after having released P5.92 billion over the course of the year, according to BusinessWorld .
The disbursements were made by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program to supplement funding for disaster response, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. The fund, also known as the calamity fund, serves as the government’s primary financial resource for disaster-related expenditures.
With the remaining balance of over P34 billion, the government maintains a significant buffer for potential calamities in the coming months, particularly during the typhoon season. The DBM continues to manage releases in accordance with approved disaster response plans.
