President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has ordered the release of an additional P3 billion to boost the Department of Migrant Workers’ (DMW) repatriation and reintegration program for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) displaced by the Middle East conflict, as reported by BusinessWorld.
Executive Secretary Ralph G. Recto announced the funding on Sunday, stating that the additional allocation will cover the costs of bringing home OFWs and providing reintegration support. The Middle East conflict has led to the displacement of numerous Filipino workers, prompting the government to expedite repatriation efforts.
The P3-billion boost is expected to enhance the DMW’s capacity to manage the return and reintegration of affected OFWs, ensuring they receive necessary assistance during the crisis. The funds will be used for transportation, temporary shelter, and livelihood support for returning workers.
