The Department of Transportation (DoTr) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) have signed an agreement to protect mangroves in the development of aviation and seaport projects, BusinessWorld reported.
The agreement, signed with the DENR’s Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau, aims to ensure that mangrove ecosystems are preserved and rehabilitated in areas affected by transportation infrastructure projects.
The partnership underscores the government’s commitment to balancing infrastructure development with environmental conservation, particularly in coastal and estuarine areas where mangroves provide critical ecological services.
