The Department of Transportation (DoTr) has invited bidders for a P563.32-million engineering consultancy and inspection contract for the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) project, according to BusinessWorld. The agency issued a request for expressions of interest, with proposals due by August, under its concession agreement with SMC Mass Rail Transit 7, Inc.
The contract covers independent engineering consultancy and inspection services for the MRT-7, a 23-kilometer rail line that will connect Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. The project, once completed, is expected to transport about 300,000 passengers daily and ease congestion along Commonwealth Avenue. SMC Mass Rail Transit 7, Inc., a unit of San Miguel Corp., is the concessionaire responsible for building the railway.
Interested firms must submit their expressions of interest before the August deadline. The DoTr will evaluate bids based on eligibility and technical requirements, and reserves the right to reject any proposal or cancel the process if needed. The winning consultant will help ensure that construction and systems meet engineering standards and safety protocols for the rail line.
