The Department of Transportation (DoTr) said it is targeting to restore commercial operations at the General Santos International Airport within one week, as reported by BusinessWorld. The suspension came after the DoTr, through the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), temporarily halted commercial flights to prioritize military and relief efforts following a recent earthquake.

The airport closure aimed to ensure that military aircraft and relief supplies could be transported without delay. The DoTr and CAAP coordinated to manage the situation and expedite the return to normal operations.

General Santos International Airport serves as a key hub for the Soccsksargen region. The DoTr's commitment to restore services within a week aims to minimize disruption for passengers and cargo operations.
