The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is pushing for a regulation that would require both local and foreign manufacturers of solar energy components to secure a Philippine Standards (PS) safety and quality certification mark before their products can be sold in the market, Philstar Biz reported.

The proposed measure aims to ensure that solar energy products meet safety and quality standards, protecting consumers and promoting renewable energy adoption. Industry stakeholders have expressed support for the initiative, noting that it will help weed out substandard products that have undermined trust in the sector.

The DTI has yet to release a timeline for the implementation of the regulation. The agency is expected to conduct consultations with manufacturers, importers, and other relevant parties before the rule takes effect.
