Investments approved by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) jumped 70% year-on-year to P152 billion from January to July, according to a report by Philstar Biz.

The surge reflects the country’s push to expand its export capabilities, with ecozone projects attracting both local and foreign investors. The seven-month tally already surpasses the P128 billion recorded in the same period last year.

PEZA continues to play a key role in the government’s economic recovery strategy, as the agency targets higher investment approvals for the rest of the year. The strong performance in ecozone investments is expected to boost manufacturing and IT-BPM sectors.
