The Department of Energy (DoE) said it has resumed the special green energy auction (GEA) for waste-to-energy (WTE) projects after a brief suspension to revise the auction terms, according to BusinessWorld.
In a statement, the DoE announced it had lifted the suspension imposed last month, allowing all auction-related activities to proceed. The move signals the government’s continued push to develop renewable energy sources, particularly through technologies that convert waste into electricity.
The auction is part of the DoE’s Green Energy Auction Program, which aims to accelerate the deployment of renewable energy capacity in the country. Waste-to-energy projects are seen as a solution to both waste management and energy generation challenges.
