EvoEnergi, the power retail arm of the Lao family's D&L Group, has brought two residential retail aggregation groups in Metro Manila into the contestable electricity market, according to Philstar Biz. The move marks a significant step in opening the country's retail electricity market to household consumers.

The residential aggregation groups, composed of homeowners in Metro Manila, will now be able to choose their electricity supplier rather than relying solely on the local distribution utility. EvoEnergi acts as the retail electricity supplier, offering competitive rates and services.

This development follows the Energy Regulatory Commission's policies promoting retail competition and consumer choice in the power sector. By aggregating residential demand, these groups gain the bargaining power typically reserved for large commercial and industrial users.
