Instead of loading feeds, many saw messages such as “Account Temporarily Unavailable” or “Sorry, something went wrong.” The outage appeared to affect users in the Philippines and other parts of the world, prompting widespread reports on online communities.
Notably, the mobile apps for both Facebook and Instagram continued to function normally, allowing users to browse, post, and message via smartphones. Threads, another Meta-owned platform, also remained accessible on both desktop and mobile, suggesting the issue was isolated to specific Meta web services rather than a broader infrastructure failure.
As of around 5:19 PM, Facebook's desktop version had been restored, but Instagram's desktop version remained inaccessible at the time of reporting. Users were advised to rely on mobile apps until full service was restored. Meta has not yet issued an official statement regarding the cause of the outage.
