The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Wednesday said that it has been coordinating with several Philippine agencies such as the Philippine Anti-Organized Crime Commission for their crackdown on scam centers in Southeast Asia, according to BusinessWorld.
In a virtual press briefing, FBI Co-Deputy Director Andrew Bailey raised three threats that the agency has been trying to address, highlighting the increasing sophistication of scam operations in the region.
The collaboration between US and Philippine law enforcement underscores the transnational nature of cyber-enabled fraud, which has victimized thousands across multiple countries. Authorities continue to pursue operations against illicit centers involved in online scams, human trafficking, and other criminal activities.
