The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has lifted the moratorium on fee adjustments for InstaPay and PESONet transactions, Philstar Biz reported. The decision allows payment service providers to adjust charges under a new pricing framework for electronic fund transfers.
The lifting of the freeze follows a period of stable fees that was implemented to encourage digital payments adoption. Under the new framework, banks and non-bank e-money issuers can set their own fees for InstaPay and PESONet transfers, subject to BSP approval and transparency requirements.
Industry observers expect moderate increases in transaction fees, though the BSP has emphasized that changes must remain reasonable and competitive. The central bank will continue to monitor the market to ensure that the shift does not discourage the use of digital payment channels.
