Fintech company GCash disbursed over P406 billion in loans to more than 11.1 million unique borrowers as of the first quarter of 2026, according to BusinessWorld. The majority of these borrowers were first-time users of formal credit who may have otherwise turned to loan sharks, its lending arm Fuse Financing Inc. said on Tuesday.

The milestone underscores GCash's growing role in financial inclusion in the Philippines, where many individuals lack access to traditional banking services. By offering small, easily accessible loans through its mobile platform, GCash has become a key alternative for underserved borrowers.

Fuse Financing, which operates the lending service, reported that the loan portfolio has expanded rapidly as the company continues to leverage data-driven credit scoring to reach more customers. The P406 billion figure represents cumulative disbursements since the service launched.
