Retail rents held firm in the second quarter as global coffee and fast fashion brands accelerated expansion into provincial markets, BusinessWorld reported, citing CBRE Philippines' Market Monitor for the period.

CBRE noted that retail was the only real estate segment to sustain rental levels, contrasting with downturns in office and residential markets. The expansion by international brands helped absorb vacant space in provincial retail centers, offsetting weaker demand in Metro Manila.

The steadiness in retail rents reflects ongoing consumer demand and retailer confidence outside the capital, though broader economic uncertainties persist. CBRE's report underscores the resilience of the retail segment amid a mixed property environment.
