Globe Telecom Inc. is accelerating its broadband expansion by establishing barangay-based service centers in the Visayas, allowing faster processing of applications directly at the community level, Philstar Biz reported.

The new centers aim to reduce the time it takes for customers to get connected by handling document submission, verification, and account activation right within their barangays. This move is part of Globe's strategy to capture more of the broadband market, particularly in underserved areas, where landline-based internet services remain limited.

Globe has been investing heavily in fiber and wireless broadband infrastructure to compete with rivals like PLDT and Converge. The barangay center model, first piloted in select provinces, is expected to be replicated in other regions if successful.
