According to YugaTech, Google is testing a new feature for Google Wallet that automatically tracks delivery packages using Gmail receipts. The feature is currently being rolled out in the United States and aims to provide users with real-time package updates directly within the Wallet app.
The system works by scanning Gmail for shipping confirmation emails and extracting tracking information. Once a package is detected, Google Wallet will display its delivery status, including estimated arrival times and tracking updates, without requiring manual input from the user.
While the feature is limited to the US at this time, it signals Google's broader push to integrate everyday utilities into its digital wallet platform. If successful, similar functionality could eventually expand to other markets, including the Philippines, where package tracking is increasingly important for e-commerce.
