The government is on track to meet its P1.3-trillion infrastructure spending program this year, despite a five-month slide in public works disbursements, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said in a report by Philstar Biz.

Budget officials said infrastructure remains a key engine for the economy’s rebound, and they are focusing on accelerating project implementation and fund releases in the coming months to ensure the target is hit.

The infrastructure program is part of the administration’s broader fiscal strategy to sustain growth, with public works seen as a major driver of economic activity. Despite the recent decline in disbursements, the DBM expressed confidence that spending will pick up and reach the full-year goal.
