Human Made has reached an agreement to acquire Undercover, according to a report from Inside Retail Asia. The two streetwear brands had previously collaborated on a Human Made x Undercover collection last year.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition marks a significant consolidation in the streetwear market, bringing together two influential Japanese labels. Undercover, founded by Jun Takahashi in 1990, has a cult following for its avant-garde designs, while Human Made, founded by NIGO, is known for its vintage-inspired aesthetic.
Industry observers expect the acquisition to lead to expanded retail presence and potential cross-brand collections. The move follows a trend of consolidation in the apparel sector, where larger brands acquire niche labels to broaden their market reach.
