The Insurance Commission (IC) has approved a fresh batch of gender-specific insurance and Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) offerings, widening coverage for women’s health risks such as breast cancer, reproductive care and maternity benefits, Philstar Biz reported.

The newly cleared products are expected to give women more tailored health coverage options. The IC move aligns with global trends toward personalized insurance, where premiums and benefits are designed around specific demographic risks rather than one-size-fits-all policies.

Industry observers noted that gender-specific plans could help address gaps in standard HMO and insurance packages, particularly for conditions that disproportionately affect women. The IC’s approval signals regulatory support for innovation in the Philippine insurance sector.
