India’s Wipro Consumer Care said it has acquired the Philippines’ S Brands Consumer Care, Inc., according to a report by BusinessWorld. The acquisition is seen as a strategic move to expand the Indian company’s footprint in Southeast Asia and explore international markets beyond the region.

Nagender Arya, Wipro Consumer president for East Asia and chief operating officer for the group’s international business division, said the company plans to bring S Brands’ products to markets like the Middle East. This reflects Wipro’s intent to use the Philippine firm as a springboard for global expansion.

The deal highlights the growing interest of Indian consumer goods companies in the Philippine market, which offers a favorable demographic and economic landscape for fast-moving consumer goods. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
