Apple has quietly included a Baybayin keyboard layout in iOS 27, announced at WWDC 2026, as first reported by YugaTech. This marks the first time the ancient Philippine script is natively supported on iPhone, allowing users to type in Baybayin without third-party apps.

To enable the Baybayin keyboard, users can go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Add New Keyboard and select "Baybayin" from the list. The layout includes the traditional characters of the script, making it accessible for those who write or study the pre-colonial writing system.

The addition of Baybayin is part of Apple's broader effort to support indigenous languages and scripts. For Filipino users and cultural advocates, the native keyboard could help preserve and promote Baybayin in digital communication, a move welcomed by language enthusiasts and historians.
