Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said on Wednesday that it has extended relief assistance to the victims of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Southern Mindanao that struck on Monday, as reported by BusinessWorld.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Southern Mindanao, especially the families, communities, health workers, emergency responders, and utility personnel affected by this earthquake," Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho said in a statement.

The company did not disclose the specific details of the relief package but noted that it is coordinating with local government units and other agencies to ensure the aid reaches those in need. The earthquake, which prompted aftershocks and damage in several provinces, has placed utility restoration efforts in focus as Meralco monitors its power facilities in the affected region.
