About 64% of businesses in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region are not fully prepared for the transition to mandatory electronic filing (e-filing) for imports of regulated consumer products entering the US, according to a survey by BusinessWorld citing Federal Express Corp. (FedEx).
The survey, conducted across 12 Asia-Pacific markets including the Philippines, found that 28% of businesses understand the new requirements but have not yet implemented the necessary changes. Another 8% are unaware of the impending rule, which mandates e-filing for regulated consumer product imports.
The findings highlight a significant compliance gap as the US Customs and Border Protection moves to enforce stricter product safety documentation. Companies that fail to adapt risk shipment delays and penalties, underscoring the need for accelerated digital supply chain readiness.
