Motorcycle sales in the Philippines rose 3.58% in the first half of the year, with buyers turning to cheaper mobility options amid high fuel prices, according to the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA). BusinessWorld reported that sales reached 939,528 units in the six months to June.

The MDPPA noted that the growth came despite a more challenging market environment following an exceptionally strong first half in 2025. The association attributed the continued demand to rising fuel costs, which have pushed commuters to seek more cost-effective transportation alternatives.

The near-1 million unit sales figure underscores the growing role of motorcycles in the Philippines' transportation landscape, as consumers adapt to persistent inflationary pressures and volatile fuel prices. Industry observers expect the trend to continue if fuel costs remain elevated.
