Nestlé Philippines and Robinsons Retail Holdings have launched a pilot program deploying sachet recycling machines in several Metro Manila stores. The initiative targets the growing problem of plastic waste from single-use sachets, which are widely consumed in the country. Consumers can deposit used sachets at designated drop-off points for proper processing. Nestlé Philippines and Robinsons Retail announced the partnership in a joint statement, highlighting their commitment to circular economy solutions.

The machines, called Sachet Drop-off Points, accept all brands of plastic sachets. Collected materials will be sent to Nestlé’s waste management partners for conversion into alternative fuels or other products. The pilot covers selected Robinsons supermarkets and department stores, with plans to expand based on consumer response.

Sachets are a major source of plastic pollution in the Philippines due to their multi-layer composition, which makes recycling challenging. This initiative is part of broader industry efforts to improve waste management infrastructure and promote sustainable packaging. Nestlé has committed to making 100% of its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.
