Emerging Power Inc., the renewable energy unit of Nickel Asia Corp., has entered into a partnership with Acwa Power Philippines to develop up to 5,000 megawatts (MW) in generation capacity across the country, Philstar Biz reported.
Nickel Asia is a major nickel mining firm in the Philippines, while Acwa Power is a Saudi-based developer and operator of power generation and desalination plants. The partnership marks a significant expansion of both companies into the Philippine renewable energy sector.
The 5,000-MW target positions the collaboration as one of the largest renewable energy initiatives in the country. It aligns with the Philippine government's push to increase the share of renewables in the nation's power mix.
