Senator Erwin T. Tulfo on Sunday said he will file a measure proposing the enforcement of a “no work, no pay” policy for public officials, which will also remove their allowances for unexplained absences. BusinessWorld reported that the proposal aims to hold officials accountable for missed duties.

In a press statement, Mr. Tulfo said his proposal will cover the president, vice-president, senators, congressmen, other elected officials, cabinet secretaries, and heads of government agencies. The measure would require officials to forfeit their salaries and allowances for any day they are absent without valid reason.

Tulfo argued that the policy would promote discipline and efficiency in government, ensuring that public servants are present and working during office hours. The senator plans to file the bill when Congress resumes its session.
