Nueva Vizcaya has stepped up its social welfare programs by releasing P6.135 million in cash assistance to 1,227 solo parents and preparing the province-wide rollout of its P20-per-kilo rice program for poor and vulnerable families next month, BusinessWorld reported.

Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Flordelina C. Granada said each beneficiary received P5,000, with the assistance aimed at easing the financial burden of solo parents in the province. The cash aid distribution covers all towns in Nueva Vizcaya.

The rice subsidy program, which will offer rice at P20 per kilo, targets poor and vulnerable households. Granada noted that the provincial government is finalizing the logistics and distribution system to ensure efficient implementation starting next month.
