A report by Philstar Biz has highlighted how violent extremists are using the online gaming platform Roblox to target Filipino children. In one incident, a group of seven 15-year-olds in Calamba, Laguna received a message on their Roblox group chat from someone they considered a friend, containing a link that led to extremist content.
The extremists exploit the platform's social features to build trust with young users before introducing radical material. The link shared in the group chat directed the teenagers to propaganda that promotes violence and extremist ideologies, illustrating the growing risk to children in online gaming communities.
The report underscores the need for greater vigilance among parents and guardians, as well as stronger safeguards on platforms popular with minors. Authorities are urged to work with gaming companies to prevent such exploitation and protect vulnerable users from radicalization.
