Philippine Airlines (PAL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Boeing Co. to acquire up to 20 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft, as reported by BusinessWorld. The agreement was announced on Monday at the Farnborough International Airshow in the United Kingdom.
The deal covers 15 firm orders with options for five additional aircraft, as part of the flag carrier's fleet modernization program. The 787-10 is the largest variant of the Dreamliner family, capable of carrying up to 330 passengers and offering improved fuel efficiency.
PAL's move underscores its strategy to expand long-haul operations and replace older wide-body aircraft. The airline has not disclosed the estimated value of the deal, but similar orders typically run into billions of dollars at list prices.
