Former budget secretary Amenah Pangandaman has been appointed as the new chairperson and chief executive officer of state-owned Al-Amanah Islamic Investment Bank, according to Philstar Biz. The appointment marks her return to government service.
Al-Amanah Islamic Investment Bank is the only Islamic bank wholly owned by the Philippine government, operating under the Charter provided by Republic Act No. 6848. The bank focuses on Shariah-compliant financing and investment services, primarily serving the Muslim community in Mindanao.
Pangandaman previously served as Secretary of the Department of Budget and Management under the Marcos administration. Her new role is seen as part of efforts to strengthen Islamic banking and financial inclusion in the country.
