The Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) announced Thursday the opening of its newly rehabilitated and modernized Sual Fish Port Complex in Sual, Pangasinan, as reported by BusinessWorld. The facility includes a widened and extended pier with a trading hall, four cold storage units with a combined capacity of 500 metric tons, blast freezers, and chiller rooms.
The modernization aims to improve post-harvest handling and reduce spoilage, enabling better preservation of fish catches. The enhanced infrastructure is expected to boost trade efficiency for local fishermen and merchants, supporting the region's fishery sector.
PFDA officials said the upgraded port complex will strengthen the supply chain and contribute to national food security goals. The project reflects ongoing efforts to modernize key fishery hubs across the country.
