According to a report from YugaTech, local 5G networks in the Philippines are not yet fully optimized for artificial intelligence workloads. The report highlights a gap between current network capabilities and the low-latency, high-bandwidth demands of AI applications.
While local telcos have focused on download speeds, AI requires more than fast data transfer—it needs ultra-reliable, low-latency connections for real-time inference and edge computing. The current 5G infrastructure in the country still lacks the necessary deployment density and backhaul capacity to support these requirements consistently.
Industry observers note that significant investments in network slicing, edge nodes, and spectrum management are needed before the Philippines can fully leverage AI over 5G. Until then, the potential of AI-driven applications in sectors like manufacturing, logistics, and smart cities remains partially untapped.
