The United Portusers Confederation of the Philippines (UPC) is urging the Bureau of Customs (BoC) to adopt a more transparent fee structure and expedite refund processing for port users, according to a report by BusinessWorld.
In a position paper, UPC highlighted the need for accessible information on charges imposed by shipping lines and cargo truck operators, calling for clearer disclosure to prevent hidden costs and improve accountability.
The group's appeal comes amid ongoing efforts to streamline port operations and reduce logistics costs in the Philippines, where opaque fee structures have long been a concern for importers and exporters.
