THE Department of Agriculture (DA) said it and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) signed a joint memorandum circular exempting farm storage facilities from local real property taxes. Agriculture Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. and Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor C. Remulla, Jr. conducted a ceremonial signing at the DA’s office.
The circular is intended to reduce costs for farmers and encourage investment in storage infrastructure, which is key to reducing post-harvest losses and ensuring food security.
Local government units are directed to implement the exemption for facilities primarily used for storing agricultural products. The DA will oversee compliance to ensure the benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.
