The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will serve as the central repository of foreign direct investment (FDI) data under a new information-sharing agreement with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), as reported by BusinessWorld. The three agencies signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) on Monday establishing the framework.
The MoA outlines protocols for secure data sharing among the agencies, with the PSA tasked to consolidate and maintain FDI statistics. The SEC will provide data on foreign equity investments, while the BSP will supply information on capital flows and other balance-of-payments components.
The initiative aims to improve data accuracy and timeliness, supporting policy formulation and investment monitoring. Centralizing FDI data under the PSA is expected to reduce reporting inconsistencies and provide a single source of official statistics for government agencies and investors.
