The Sandiganbayan on Wednesday reset to July 14 the proceedings of the graft case against Senator Jose “Jinggoy” P. Ejercito Estrada, Jr. and former Public Works Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan amid plans to name the latter a state witness, BusinessWorld reported.
The case before the anti-graft court’s Second Division stems from allegations of irregularities in P213 million worth of infrastructure projects. The prosecution is reportedly considering Bonoan as a state witness, which could lead to a separate hearing or dismissal of charges against him.
No further details were provided on the specific irregularities or the status of the alleged witness deal. Both Estrada and Bonoan face graft charges under Republic Act 3019, the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
