Severe Tropical Storm Higos, locally known as Gardo, exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Friday, heading toward southern Japan after a stay of less than 24 hours, according to BusinessWorld.
The state weather bureau PAGASA said that although the storm has left, the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to bring gale-force winds and heavy rains over several areas in the country.
Residents in affected regions were advised to remain cautious as monsoon rains may trigger flash floods and landslides.
