Sony has announced the Lytia 910 image sensor, its first to incorporate LOFIC (Lateral Overflow Integration Capacitor) technology, which delivers up to 100dB of dynamic range, according to YugaTech.
LOFIC technology enhances the sensor's ability to capture details in both bright and dark areas by storing excess charge, reducing highlights clipping and improving low-light performance. The Lytia 910 is expected to compete with other high-dynamic-range sensors in the market.
The new sensor will likely be used in professional cameras and high-end smartphones, enabling more accurate exposure in challenging lighting conditions. Sony continues to innovate in image sensor technology, pushing the boundaries of dynamic range.
